Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney suffers mixed display against Norwich City

Wayne Rooney put in a mixed performance in Manchester United’s 2-1 defeat against Norwich City on Saturday.

The Man United captain was making his 500th appearance for the club and was presented with a special award by Sir Bobby Charlton prior to kickoff. However, he won’t look back fondly on the game.

He had some nice touches but, for a reported £300,000-a-week, you’d be looking for much more from Rooney. United fans had their say on the 30-year-old:

Rooney was making his return from injury but he simply wasn’t good enough at Old Trafford.

The same could be said for many of his teammates but it is hard to recall Rooney actually having an overwhelmingly good game this season. There needs to be change at United, with Rooney’s and Louis van Gaal’s positions at the club very much under question.
