Defiant Juan Mata confident Manchester United will turn poor form around

Juan Mata is insistent that Manchester United will not give up in the face of adversity as they struggle to find form.

The Reds are without a win in six games in all competitions and have been knocked out of the Champions League and there is plenty of talk of Man United being a team in crisis. Mata has been one of the players who has been below par recently, as his goalscoring and interplay with the forwards seem to have gone downhill from the start of the season.

The Spaniard, who is always one to make an effort with the fans, expressed his disappointment at the team’s recent displays but is adamant that the squad will bounce back and make the supporters proud.

“No matter how tough the situation can be, I’m not even thinking about giving up. That’s my attitude day after day, I try to give the maximum regardless of things going well or bad,” Mata wrote in his blog.

“I believe that’s the only way to get out of this bad streak: keep working hard and sooner or later we will get the results that we want. It’s time to prepare the next game, show our strength as a group and make the most of all these fixtures in the Christmas period so we can start a good run of results.”

United make the trip to face Stoke City on Boxing Day, knowing a win is vital if they are to stay within touching distance of the Premier League summit. The festive period has traditionally been a time when the Reds make up ground on their rivals but recent form does not indicate that this will be the case.

Mata and his teammates will be desperate for a win and will be hoping for a change in fortunes when they visit the Britannia Stadium. A win could change the mood in the camp and set them up nicely before they welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford, just two days later.
