Riyad Mahrez’s agent has insisted that the Leicester City forward will not be sold in the January transfer window.
Mahrez has enjoyed a sensational campaign with Leicester, scoring 13 goals to help the Foxes rise to the top of the Premier League table.
There have been rumours that Manchester United are preparing a £29m bid for the Algerian in January but Mahrez’s agent, Kamel Bengougam, believes he will stay at Leicester for the time being.
“I don’t think Leicester want to sell him and he is focused on doing well with them. I think he will stay in January,” Bengougam said.
Man United are in desperate need of some attacking impetus as they seek to rescue their faltering campaign and as Mahrez is tearing it up with Leicester, it’s no surprise to see him linked with a move as clubs will be circling above his head over the next couple of transfer windows.
However, it is highly unlikely that clubs will let their prize assets leave mid-season unless a ridiculous offer is involved. It looks like Louis van Gaal – or whoever is in charge of United in the coming weeks – may have to make do with what they’ve got.
