Newcastle United forward Ayoze Perez has said there is ‘truth’ in reports which suggest that Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in him.
The 22-year-old has has scored four goals in 15 games in what has been a dismal season so far for a struggling Newcastle side, resulting in links with a move away from St James’ Park.
Perez admitted that he felt honoured with the links but was happy to stay under Steve McClaren and speaking to Radio Club Tenerife, he insists that Newcastle is the place for him.
“There is truth in the talk about interest in me,” he said.
“It’s rewarding for me.
“There is much in the interest from Tottenham and Man United, but my place is at Newcastle.”
United fans are well aware that our current strike-force isn’t good enough. Scoring goals has been the major problem this year for Louis van Gaal‘s team, so it’s not a surprise to hear we’ve already started looking at strikers to bring in.
Whether Perez is enough is subjective but as we’re so reliant on a 20-year-old Anthony Martial for our goals, there’s no doubt we’ll be bringing in reinforcements over the next couple of transfer windows.
