Thierry Henry: Manchester United fans and board are losing patience with Louis van Gaal

Thierry Henry believes Manchester United’s fans and board will be losing patience with Louis van Gaal following the 0-0 draw against Chelsea on Monday.

Man United put in a much better performance against Chelsea but the result meant they have now gone eight games without a win in all competitions.

United now sit sixth in the Premier League and they are in serious danger of missing out on the top four. Arsenal legend Henry insisted that van Gaal’s side need to start winning and quickly.

“It’s another game without winning, that’s eight now, and another 0-0 draw at Old Trafford,” Henry said.

“I don’t think I would have ever said that in my lifetime. But there was something about them on Monday that maybe sparked something, a new beginning maybe.

“But how much was that down to Chelsea not playing well? They allowed United to be on the ball, there wasn’t much pressure, they didn’t have a striker, with [Eden] Hazard playing as a false No.9.

“Van Gaal said that he has the board with him. I think they better start to win football games because he will have to deal with a tricky situation, and at one time the board may find themselves dealing with the same situation the Chelsea board had not that long ago.”

It’s safe to say that the majority of fans have already lost patience with van Gaal. A four game losing streak against Wolfsburg, Bournemouth, Norwich City and Stoke City saw many lose faith in the Dutchman.

The performance against Chelsea may have earned van Gaal a stay of execution but anything less than three points against Swansea City next time out will surely signal the end of his reign, assuming that the United board haven’t made their mind up over the veteran’s future already.
