Jose Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has insisted that the Portuguese boss is yet to speak to any clubs over a return to management.
Mourinho was recently sacked by Chelsea and he has been linked with a move to Manchester United, with Louis van Gaal under huge pressure at Old Trafford.
Man United drew 0-0 with Chelsea on Monday, a result which extended their winless streak to eight games in all competitions. Mendes revealed that Mourinho is taking a break in Brazil.
“Right now, he [Mourinho] is in Brazil. We will see what happens when he gets back,” Mendes said.
“At the moment, we have not been talking about England, Spain or Italy. He only needs to be calm and not worry about anything – he is the best manager in the world.”
An eight game winless streak would not be tolerated at any other top club in the world and it is baffling how van Gaal has not been sacked already.
If United delay any longer, Mourinho could go elsewhere and the club would have missed out on yet another proven, world-class manager. It is hard to see van Gaal turning things around and United need to be decisive now ahead of the crucial January transfer window.
