Nemanja Vidic believes Manchester United can still win the Premier League title despite their poor form in recent weeks.
Man United played out a goalless draw with Chelsea on Monday, meaning they have now gone eight games without a win in all competitions.
The result left them sixth in the Premier League and in serious danger of missing out on the top four. However, Vidic, now at Inter Milan, insisted United are still capable of finishing in top spot.
“Chelsea are not doing well despite having so many quality players,” he said.
“But United are in a better position and can still challenge for the league. They’re not playing the football like we used to watch in an attacking way, but they’re playing good possession football.
Speaking about his move to Inter, Vidic added: ”I like Italy. It took time for me and my family to adapt but Milan is a good city to live in.
“But of course I miss Old Trafford and England in a lot of ways. My children were born there and I’m looking forward to going back.”
Vidic, in his prime, was a supreme defender who established a fearsome partnership with Rio Ferdinand at the back for United.
There is a sense that United are currently lacking leaders of Vidic’s ilk and that it is one of the reasons why they are going through such a torrid run. The team should take it step-by-step, for now, and focus on a place in the top four.
