Manchester United’s Chris Smalling: Louis van Gaal will never change

Chris Smalling has insisted Louis van Gaal will not change his methods at Manchester United despite the team’s poor form.

Van Gaal has overseen an eight game winless streak in all competitions from his side and there have been numerous calls for the Dutchman to be sacked.

However, Man United were much improved in the 0-0 draw against Chelsea on Monday. Smalling believes van Gaal will not change his ways.

“He has been himself from day one that we met him to how he is now,” Smalling said.

“He is not going to change and that is why he has had a lot of success throughout the years. I can’t ever see him changing because he’s got a track record.”

United reportedly gave van Gaal the Stoke City and Chelsea games to save his job following the 2-1 defeat against Norwich earlier in the month.

The side managed just one point, and no goals, in the two matches and it is a wonder how van Gaal is still in a job as a result. With Jose Mourinho reportedly ready and willing to take over at United, the club need to be decisive soon as any decision could shape the team’s success for years to come.
