Louis van Gaal believes that Manchester United had a good 2015 if you forget about December.
Man United failed to win in December having been beaten by the likes of Bournemouth, Norwich City and Stoke City and they were knocked out of the Champions League following a 3-2 defeat against Wolfsburg.
Earlier in the season, United had recorded memorable victories over the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.
“When you don’t assess December it was a very good year, 2015,” van Gaal said.
When you step back and assess the year, van Gaal did the minimum expected of him up to the start of December.
He got United back into the Champions League and he laid the foundations for the future with the signings of Anthony Martial and Memphis Depay. However, it is difficult to look past December, which was atrocious in terms of performances as well as results. United’s season has all but collapsed following the month and they are in serious danger of missing out on the top four in the Premier League. It remains to be seen if the board at Old Trafford thinks van Gaal is still the right man for the job.
