Gianluca Di Marzio: ‘Nothing’ in Felipe Anderson to Manchester United rumours

by Ben Topliss

There is “nothing” in the rumour that Lazio’s Felipe Anderson is set to join Manchester United, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Reports this week suggested the Brazilian forward was set to be Man United’s first signing of the January transfer window.

Anderson was reportedly set to move to Old Trafford for a fee of around £35m. However, Di Marzio claimed that United are yet to approach the player:

Whatever the validity of the Anderson rumours, it is good that United are targeting creative players.

Louis van Gaal’s side have been lacking quality in the final third this season as Wayne Rooney has struggled and the likes of Anthony Martial are still developing.

It is crucial that van Gaal – or whoever is managing United – brings in one or two players in January to freshen up the squad and inject some impetus for the rest of the campaign. United’s season is quickly unravelling and they need to arrest the slump.
