Anthony Martial steals the show in Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Swansea

Anthony Martial was Manchester United’s stand-out performer in today’s 2-1 win over Swansea.

Although Ashley Young played extremely well and Wayne Rooney also found his goalscoring boots again, it was Martial who made all the difference with his goal and assist.

The numbers don’t lie for Martial. He completed 91% of his passes and attempted seven take-ons against Swansea’s defence, something which you could see was affecting them as they continued to back off him in fear of being made to look like a fool.

Martial, quite literally, has fans sitting on the edge of their seats. He’s so exciting and has such an excellent final product for someone who is only 20. In a season of such dour and dull football, Martial is a breath of fresh air.

We’ve bemoaned a lack of entertaining football under Louis van Gaal, and rightly so, but Martial’s performance against Swansea is hopefully indicative of what is to come in 2016 because that was United – we attacked with intent and pace and scored goals. It’s quite simple really.
