Manchester United’s Morgan Schneiderlin enjoys assured display against Swansea City

by Ben Topliss

Morgan Schneiderlin enjoyed an encouraging performance in the middle of the park as Manchester United beat Swansea City 2-1 on Saturday.

Schneiderlin started alongside Bastian Schweinsteiger in midfield and he regularly broke up Swansea’s forays into Man United’s half.

Anthony Martial scored United’s opening goal before Wayne Rooney sealed the win late on with an audacious flick.

A glimpse at Schneiderlin’s stats during the game told you everything you need to know; 93% passing, two chances created, 100% aerial duels won, five interceptions and one clearance.

It was a superb display and one that emphasised how important Schneiderlin’s contribution is.

United are simply a better side with him in it, as his tireless work in midfield provides a platform for his teammates to build on. He will be hoping to keep his place in the starting XI as United prepare to begin their FA Cup campaign with a clash against Sheffield United next week.
