Nick Powell loan rumous fuelled by absence against Spurs U21s

by Sam Peoples

Nick Powell was completely left out of Manchester United’s U21s squad to face Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night.

The 21-year-old had previously played in Man United’s recent U21s games and reports currently suggest he could be set to leave the club on loan for the rest of the season.

Preston North End are being touted as a possible destination for Powell but he is unlikely to be short of suitors, so there would no doubt be more than one club interested in his services.

While Powell’s exclusion from the U21s squad doesn’t definitely mean he will be leaving on loan, it certainly makes it seem like a real possibility. Otherwise, there would have been no reason for Warren Joyce to leave him out of the squad to face Spurs unless he has picked up a fresh injury problem.

Hopefully, for Powell’s sake, his absence had nothing to do with an injury because having spent nearly a year on the sidelines with serious problems, that’s the absolute last thing he’ll want.
