Manchester United have informed reporters that Nick Powell missed Monday night’s U21s game against Tottenham Hotspur with a calf strain.
We discussed Powell’s absence and whether it had any relation to the rumours surrounding his immediate future with regards to a potential loan spell away from Man United.
Powell missing from the game either meant he has suffered an injury or it was to do with his future and United have taken the opportunity to confirm it was because of a calf strain, rather than anything to do with an imminent transfer.
Nick Powell's absence last night injury rather than transfer-related. #MUFC say he's got a calf strain

It’s good news if you ask me, so long as it is just a very minor calf strain and Powell can return to action quickly, then I am happy his absence wasn’t because a loan move was being organised behind the scenes.
Powell has done his time out on multiple loan moves and has spent nearly a year recovering from injury. Now is the time for him to stay at United, work hard in training and try to force his way into the first-team. Another spell away from United won’t help him as much as staying at the club would.
