Jurgen Klopp rules Phillipe Coutinho and Lovren out of Man Utd clash

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has ruled Dejan Lovren and Philippe Coutinho out of his side’s upcoming Premier League games against Arsenal and Manchester United.

The duo both limped off in Liverpool’s Capital One Cup win against Stoke this week after picking up hamstring injuries.

Klopp conceded that Coutinho and Lovren will not be back for the game against Man United and that Kolo Toure has also picked up cramp.

“Coutinho is more serious than Dejan Lovren,” Klopp said.

“Kolo is only cramp but it won’t be possible for him to play the next game. Lovren should be back after United. Coutinho will need a few weeks longer.”

Liverpool are currently in the midst of an injury crisis, with the likes of Martin Skrtel, Danny Ings, Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi also sidelined.

Klopp enjoyed a good start to his Anfield career but Liverpool’s fortunes have been mixed as of late and United will be playing them at a good time, although Louis van Gaal hasn’t fared much better at Old Trafford. Following a recent eight game winless run in all competitions, United are facing a battle to get back into the top form and a string of victories against the likes of Liverpool would give them a big boost going forward.
