Ashley Fletcher enjoyed a debut to remember as he scored for Barnsley in the first leg of their Johnstone’s Paint Trophy semi-final against Fleetwood Town on Saturday.
Fletcher, who only joined Barnsley on loan from Manchester United on Thursday, took just five minutes to announce his arrival at Oakwell with a goal after coming off the substitute’s bench.
The youngster’s inch-perfect header came after an excellent cross from the left by Adam Hammill. It was a huge moment for Fletcher and he relished the strike:

It is fantastic to see Fletcher making an immediate impact at Barnsley and the hope is that he goes from strength to strength at the club.
While he was scoring for Barnsley, United were struggling to break down Sheffield United in the FA Cup at Old Trafford.
Thankfully, Wayne Rooney scored a dramatic late penalty to scrape United through to the next stage of the competition. Fletcher will be looking to impress out on loan in order to force his way into Louis van Gaal’s thinking.
