Jorge Mendes has big plans to bring both Jose Mourinho and Andre Gomes to Manchester United in the summer, reports David Amoyal from Gianluca Di Marzio.
Mourinho is one of the main candidates to replace Louis van Gaal who isn’t expected to be Man United manager come the start of next season and if Mendes really does want to push the idea, he’s well placed to do so.
As for Gomes, those with great memories will remember links began back in February 2015 when reports in Spain suggested we were tracking the Valencia midfielder. Now, those murmurings have been re-kindled.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Radamel Falcao, Marcos Rojo, Nani and Anthony Martial are five players who Mendes represented when they moved to United, and his relationship with United is a close knit one. If he wants to make a move happen, he can certainly put a persuasive and lucrative case forward.
Amoyal reports that Napoli and Juventus are both already pushing for Gomes so there would be stiff competition for his signature, as is the case with any talented player in the modern game, but Mourinho is more black and white. If United want him, he’d run bare foot to Old Trafford.
Di Marzio has an excellent reputation for strong transfer news so we’ll be keeping a close eye on how this one develops over the coming months but it looks like we might be seeing more of Mendes.
