The Frenchman started in an unorthodox right wing position and caused problems for Paul Dummett but couldn’t quite have the impact that many were hoping for. Martial rarely had a chance in front of goal and found himself pushed out wide for the majority of the game.
The 20-year-old was often used as an outlet ball to try and then deliver a cross into the box, which was disappointing given the finishing ability he has shown throughout the season. He was still one of the more positive players on the night for Man United and supporters were once again satisfied with his performance.
When you've got Young delivering some real quality from the right Martial is wasted where he is.

The draw was a kick in the teeth for United who will definitely feel they should have come away from St. James Park with all three points. On many occasions this season, Martial has been the man to bail the Reds out of a tough situation but it did not quite come off for the youngster against the Geordies.
Martial and the rest of the team will have to brush themselves off ahead of the huge game at Anfield when they take on Liverpool on Sunday. Given the Reds have dropped more points in the race to finish in the top four, the match on Merseyside has become that bit more important and supporters will hope Martial can have the same impact against the rivals that he did earlier in the season.
