Manchester United and Chelsea are continuing to monitor the situation of Corinthians forward Alexandre Pato, according to MailOnline.
Pato, who scored 10 goals while on loan at Sao Paulo last season, will be a free agent when his contract at Corinthians expires in December.
The Brazilian was considered to be one of the brightest young talents in the world when he joined AC Milan in 2007.
Pato’s career tailed off towards the end of his time at the San Siro but he has regained some confidence and has made no secret of his desire to move to the Premier League.
It would be a gamble for Man United to bring him in but, with Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial the only real out-and-out strikers at the club, Louis van Gaal may believe that it is a risk worth taking.
That being said, van Gaal has been let down by the likes of Radamel Falcao and Angel di Maria during his time in charge at Old Trafford and there is no guarantee that Pato would be a success at United.
