Chris Smalling: Manchester United fans were ‘different class’ in victory against Liverpool

by Tanveer Arayan

Chris Smalling has hailed Manchester United’s fans as “different class” following the 1-0 victory against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Man United were second best for the majority of the contest but Wayne Rooney’s late strike sealed a crucial three points for Louis van Gaal’s side.

Supporters were in full voice at Anfield and they were joined in the stand by Michael Carrick, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones. Smalling praised the travelling faithful after the win:

Smalling conceded a penalty against Newcastle United earlier this month but he was much better against Liverpool.

That being said, if Liverpool’s finishing had been better, it could have easily been a difficult result.

United rode their luck in the clash and, although it was a confidence boosting win, they will need to be much better in the coming weeks. They face Southampton next time out before taking on Derby in the FA Cup.!–Article End–>
