Morgan Schneiderlin: We were screaming and shouting at half time at Anfield

Morgan Schneiderlin has revealed that Manchester United players were ‘screaming and shouting in the dressing room’ at half time against Liverpool.

Louis van Gaal‘s side earned a vital win after Wayne Rooney scored the only goal of the game in the 78th minute but it was a far from convincing performance overall.

After a disappointing first half, the Frenchman has opened up about angry Man United players in the dressing room.

Speaking to ManUtd.com, Schneiderlin said: “Anfield is always a nice atmosphere, especially in a derby match. We could feel it was a special moment and we are very happy to finish with the win today.

“It was the most important thing to give the win to our fans and the football club. Hopefully now we can carry on.

“In the first half, we didn’t win enough second balls. Sometimes we won the first ball but not the second ball.

“When we came into the dressing room after the first half, there was some screaming and shouting but of course that is normal because in a derby you cannot lose the battle.

“Liverpool are a very high pressing team and we knew if we kept a clean sheet we would have a chance to win the game.

“In the second half we did what we had to do. We scored one goal, stayed strong and, at the end, it is three points which is amazing.”

That’s what you want to hear – you want to know the players were pissed off and shouting because they were playing crap at Anfield. It’s a shame they couldn’t translate that in the first half but all that really matters is the three point on the table at the end of the day.

Next up for United is Southampton at home and as great as it was to win away at Anfield, it will all be pretty much a waste of time if we can’t get another three points this weekend – so hopefully there’s plenty of shouting before the Saints trip to Old Trafford as well.
