Manchester United have confirmed Liam Grimshaw has left to join Championship side Preston North End.
The 20-year-old had spent part of this season loan to Scottish club Motherwell but was recalled by Man United in order to allow his permanent move to Preston be finalised.
Writing on Twitter, Man United said: “We’re wishing the best of luck to Liam Grimshaw as he departs #mufc to join Championship side Preston North End.”

Grimshaw follows fellow United academy graduate Ben Pearson in joining Preston this January and with goalkeeper Sam Johnstone on loan there, as well as ex-red Marnick Vermijl at the club too, there will be plenty of familiar faces for Grimshaw down at Preston.
This is a move which suits all parties. Grimshaw was very unlikely to get any game time with United’s first-team, Preston have signed a good squad player, Grimshaw will play some much needed first-team football and United get a player off the books.
Good luck at Preston Liam and we wish you the very best.
