Adnan Januzaj had a goalscoring return for Manchester United tonight in an outing for the U21s against Southampton.
The midfielder’s perfectly placed shot from outside the area found the bottom corner and gave the goalkeeper no chance.
Having had such a dismal season so far thanks to a loan spell at Borussia Dortmund which didn’t work out, it’s great to see Januzaj back among the goals.
Januzaj was left out for the U21s last week soon after he came back from Germany and Louis van Gaal also decided he wasn’t ready for the first-team this weekend for the crucial Liverpool game – but he’s now back in action.
Can this goal be a turning point for Januzaj? A point in which he puts the frustrations of the season so far behind him and pushes on? Of course, but it’s all up to him and his attitude if he is to make a success of it.
I loved watching Januzaj in his breakthrough year under David Moyes and he’s still got that edge-of-your-seat talent, it’s just a case of finding the form and confidence to bring that out again. Hopefully we see that from now on.
