Wolfsburg managing director Klaus Allofs has rubbished speculation that rumoured Manchester United target Ricardo Rodriguez will join Real Madrid this month.
Madrid’s have reportedly moved forward their plans to sign left-back Rodriguez following their recent transfer ban.
“You can forget it, we certainly will not be doing that,” he said.
It is clear that van Gaal needs to add depth in the position but it is unlikely that clubs will sell their prize assets in the January transfer window. Rodriguez is a quality player but perhaps United would be wise to go for him in the summer.
Rodriguez was on United’s radar prior to Shaw joining, so after the young Englishman joined I’m not even sure Rodriguez would consider a move to Old Trafford knowing full well he’d become second choice when the Englishman was fit again. That being said, it sounds like Wolfsburg have no intention of letting him go anyway so that is irrelevant.
