Manchester United scouts have been sent to watch Benfica youngster Renato Sanches for the third time in two weeks, according to reports.

Sanchez was recently rewarded with a new contract at the Estadio da Luz following an impressive breakthrough campaign, keeping him at the Portuguese club until 2021.

The deal reportedly has a release clause of £58.8m but that hasn’t put Man United off and they watched the 18-year-old’s recent outings against Estoril, Maritimo and Nacional. Newcastle United, Swansea City and Aston Villa are also said to be interested:

Sanches looks like an excellent prospect and he would fit the profile of a young, exciting talent that Louis van Gaal has often brought in during his time in charge of United having signed the likes of Anthony Martial and Memphis Depay.

However, supporters would have been hoping for a rather more established star to join the club this month as United have been crying out for some reinforcements over the course of the campaign.
