David de Gea wishes Victor Valdes good luck as keeper nears exit

Manchester United’s David de Gea has wished Victor Valdes luck as the former Barcelona keeper looks set to leave Old Trafford.

Valdes, who has been frozen out at Man United, is reportedly closing in on a loan move to Standard Liege.

The Spaniard has suffered a breakdown in his relationship with Louis van Gaal after an apparent refusal to play for United’s U21 side last term. Compatriot De Gea wished Valdes good luck for the future:

Valdes’ torrid time at United has finally come to an end, much to the relief of everyone involved.

He has enjoyed a sparkling career at the highest level and he deserves to go out on a high rather than languishing in United’s reserve teams.

United will be hoping to draw a line under the whole affair and put Valdes to the back of their minds ahead of the Premier League clash against Southampton this weekend. It is vitally important that van Gaal’s side build on the win against Liverpool last time out.
