Manchester United chief scout Marcel Bout is pushing forward a deal for Lazio forward Felipe Anderson, according to Calciomercato.
The report claims that Bout has been impressed with Anderson, who has been valued at £35m, and urged Louis van Gaal to sign him.
There have been conflicting rumours surrounding Anderson and Man United. Reporters such as Simon Stone have suggested that the club aren’t interested in Anderson while Lazio boss Stefano Pioli recently refused to rule out selling the Brazilian.
It is unclear whether or not United are actually targeting Anderson but he would fit the profile of a player they have been lacking this term; quick, creative and direct.
United have been subpar from an attacking point of view this term and it is clear that they need reinforcements this month.
The next few months could prove to be crucial if United are to salvage something from their campaign. The hope is that Louis van Gaal has a trick or two up his sleeve.
