Transfer roundup: Victor Valdes all but confirms Manchester United exit

by Ben Topliss

There were significant developments in the future of Victor Valdes on Thursday as his Manchester United exit was all but confirmed.

First of all, Valdes himself tweeted to thank fans for their support in what looked like a goodbye message.

David de Gea then followed that by wishing Valdes, who has been strongly linked with a loan move to Standard Liege, the best of luck in the future.

He is now just a medical away from completing his transfer to Standard Liege and ending what has been an awful time in his career at United.

Elsewhere, Leicester City have reportedly registered their interest in a short-term deal for Andreas Pereira.

The young Brazilian recently admitted he is growing frustrated with a lack of first team opportunities at Old Trafford and he is also said to be on PSV Eindhoven’s and Malaga’s radar.

Meanwhile, United are considering making bids for Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani and Benfica wonderkid Renato Sanches, respectively. United believe Cavani could be the solution to their attacking woes and scouts have sent the club glowing reviews after watching Sanches in action. It remains to be seen if they firm up their interest between now and the end of the transfer window.
