Victor Valdes set for medical with Standard Liege

Belgian side Standard Liege are hoping to complete a move for Victor Valdes in the ‘coming days’ and the Manchester United goalkeeper will now undergo a medical.

Belgian newspaper HLN.be say only a successfully passed medical really stands in the way of Valdes’ move to Standard Liege. Given that he came to United to rehabilitate a serious knee injury, the Belgian club are likely to do a stringent medical to make sure his fitness is up to scratch.

All in all, Valdes is a step away from completing his United exit. That being said, Valdes was close to joining Besiktas during the summer but a move collapsed so nobody will be counting their chickens until they have hatched.

While Standard Liege is far from the level you’d expect Valdes to be playing, it’s still far better than sitting on United’s bench with absolutely no hope of playing first-team football bar some serious injuries to David de Gea and Sergio Romero simultaneously.

Hopefully there are no complications and Valdes’ exit can be confirmed soon. Don’t worry, we’ll be keeping a close eye on developments in Belgium.
