Dusan Tadic: Southampton must ‘respect’ Manchester United

by Ben Topliss

Southampton’s Dusan Tadic has insisted his side will need to be on top form if they are to secure a positive result against Manchester United this weekend.

Tadic scored the winning goal for Southampton against Man United at Old Trafford last season and will be hoping to repeat the feat on Saturday.

However, the Serbian believes United, who are five places above Southampton in the Premier League, will provide a tough test for the Saints.

When asked about his goal last season, Tadic said: “Happy memories, that was really good. It’s one of the best memories, for me and for the club.

“It would be nice for it to be the same result but we need to respect Man United. They are one of the biggest teams and also play good football.

“They have played good games and sometimes they have not been so lucky. It’s always hard to play against them. We will go with confidence but you never know with football.

“The most important thing is that we play well as a team. Then it is easier for everyone to show what they can do.”

Southampton have won their last three games in all competitions and should be full of confidence when they line up to face United.

That being said, United will also be buoyed following a 1-0 win against Liverpool last time out. It will be interesting to see how each team approaches the game and whether or not they commit in an attacking sense.
