Manchester United are confident of beating Chelsea to the signing of Feyenoord wonderkid Tahith Chong, according to the Daily Mail.
Man United have been tracking Chong for some time having been impressed with him during a pre-season youth tournament at Carrington last year.
Chelsea are also said to be keen on Chong, who can operate in midfield, out wide or up top, but United are confident of securing his signature.
The player himself reportedly favours a move to United, despite the uncertainty surrounding the club’s youth set-up in recent weeks.
United have been bolstering numbers in the youth ranks for a number of months now having secured deals for several prospects such as Indy Boonen.
There have also been changes in terms of staff, with Nicky Butt and Chris Casper apparently set for new roles at the club as part of an overhaul in the set-up. The hope is that supporters see the results on the pitch in the coming years.
