Louis van Gaal determined to stay at Manchester United – report

Louis van Gaal is determined to stay at Manchester United to repay the faith the club’s hierarchy have shown in him, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Ed Woodward reportedly convinced van Gaal out of resigning following the 1-0 defeat against Southampton last time out.

Woodward told van Gaal that he has the full support of the board, despite Man United’s awful form in recent months.

Van Gaal was won over by his support and he is now preparing to face the battle ahead at Old Trafford having returned from a mini-holiday in Holland.

It is a peculiar situation and it’s hard to see how van Gaal would still retain the confidence of the United players.

Van Gaal’s offer of resignation was reportedly his third this season and he said that he is failing supporters after the loss against Southampton. Why would the players want to play for him after that? It looks like he will now be in charge for the FA Cup clash against Derby on Friday. Defeat would be calamitous and the blame would have to lie at the feet of Woodward and the board.
