Tahith Chong says Man United are interested in signing him

Feyenoord midfielder Tahith Chong has confirmed Manchester United are interested in signing him but says he wants to stay at Feyenoord.

Back in September, reports said Man United were set to sign Chong, 16, but nothing ever materialised despite the interest being revisited later in that month.

Now, those reports are firmly back in the spotlight following Chong’s comments.

“Feyenoord is and remains my first choice and we are still negotiating,” Chong told Fr12.nl

“It’s true that Manchester United are interested in me, but I want to just stay at Feyenoord.

“There is absolutely no question that I’m going out to the club.

“Feyenoord now has come up with a plan of how they see me in the coming years at the club.

“I am hopeful that it will be all right and that I’m going to sign a contract with Feyenoord.”

The last Dutch teenage midfielder we brought in was Timothy Fosu-Mensah and he has quickly accelerated himself into the U21s team despite only just turning 18 this January. He’s by far and away one of our most exciting prospects and he came from the Ajax academy.

However, Chong sounds completely committed to Feyenoord and is wholly confident of their plans for him, so United would do very well to prise him away from there if it’s where he wants to stay.
