Here is the latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip.

Ashley Fletcher has extended his loan at Barnsley until the end of the season. The 20-year-old has impressed since joining the League One side earlier this month, scoring on his debut against Fleetwood Town.

Gareth Bale’s agent has rubbished rumours that the Welshman ‘seriously considered’ a move to Man United. Reports this week suggested the Welshman was keen on a move to Man United after the club had made a £100m bid last summer. Jonathan Barnett insisted that “the story is complete rubbish”.

Former Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer believes United would thrive if they appointed Jose Mourinho as manager. Louis van Gaal is currently under huge pressure at United and Schwarzer claimed Mourinho’s Premier League experience would be ‘invaluable’ at Old Trafford if he took over from the Dutchman in the event of his sacking.

Robert Lewandowski is expected to reject interest from United, Manchester City and Chelsea in favour of a move to Real Madrid. The 27-year-old, who would command a fee of £60m, is said to have his heart set on a transfer to Zinedine Zidane’s Madrid.

Victor Valdes has claimed that he has a “good feeling” after moving to Standard Liege on loan from United. The Spanish keeper thanked fans for welcoming him and insisted he will give his best to the club for the rest of the season.
