Manchester United: De Gea; Varela, Smalling, Blind, Borthwick-Jackson; Fellaini, Schneiderlin; Mata, Lingard, Martial; Rooney

Subs: Romero, McNair, Carrick, Herrera, Januzaj, Pereira, Memphis

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has made two changes to his side for the FA Cup clash against Derby this evening.

Guillermo Varela replaces the injured Matteo Darmian at right-back, while Juan Mata comes in for Ander Herrera in the No.10 position.

Meanwhile, Michael Carrick is only fit enough to make the substitute’s bench. He takes a place alongside Andreas Pereira and Adnan Januzaj.

Van Gaal goes into the game under immense pressure, with widespread reports suggesting he is on the brink of leaving the club.

He has named a strong team, which shows just how much he needs to win. Exiting the FA Cup at this stage would be disastrous in terms of confidence in van Gaal and defeat may signal the end of his tenure.
