Manchester United eye late Marquinhos bid – report

by Tanveer Arayan

Manchester United are considering a late January bid for Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos, according to the Sun.

Man United are in the market for defensive recruitments, with Matteo Darmian, Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones all struggling with injuries.

United have reportedly contacted PSG to see if a deal can be struck before the transfer window closes on Monday.

Marquinhos has struggled for first team opportunities at the Parc Des Princes this term and United believe he would be available for around £15m.

The Brazilian would be a good addition to Louis van Gaal’s side and if he wants to come then United should seriously consider bringing him in.

United’s defence will likely have a threadbare look about it once again against Derby on Friday and Marquinho’s inclusion would go a long way to solving that problem. However, United are also in need of a creative forward, with Lazio’s Felipe Anderson one of a number of names linked with moves to Old Trafford.
