Manchester United: De Gea; Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Borthwick-Jackson; Fellaini, Carrick; Lingard, Mata, Martial; Rooney
Subs: Romero, McNair, Varela, Schneiderlin, Herrera, Pereira, Memphis
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has made two changes to his side for the Premier League clash against Stoke City this evening, with Matteo Darmian and Michael Carrick coming in for Guillermo Varela and Morgan Schneiderlin.
Darmian had been sidelined for a short period of time after picking up an injury against Southampton, while Carrick completed a cameo from the bench in the FA Cup clash against Derby County last week.
Bizarrely, Schneiderlin drops to the substitute’s bench rather than Marouane Fellaini, who has struggled to make an impact in central midfield as of late.
Varela can also count himself unlucky not to start having put in a superb display against Derby.
With Manchester City confirming that Pep Guardiola will join them next season, the pressure on van Gaal is very much on. It is crucial that United build on the good display against Derby with a win against Stoke tonight.
