Manchester United name 24-man Europa League squad

by Ben Topliss

Manchester United have named their 24-man squad for the Europa League ahead of the knockout stage of the competition.

Luke Shaw makes the squad as he continues his recovery from a double leg break suffered earlier this season, while Antonio Valencia and Marcos Rojo are also included despite the duo also suffering long-term injuries.

The likes of Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Paddy McNair are not in the list but they qualify to play due to their homegrown status.

Goalkeepers:

David de Gea
Sergio Romero
Sam Johnstone

Defenders:

Phil Jones
Marcos Rojo
Chris Smalling
Luke Shaw
Guillermo Varela
Matteo Darmian
Regan Poole

Midfielders:

Mata
Carrick
Blind
Young
Herrera
Valencia
Fellaini
Schneiderlin
Schweinsteiger
Lingard

Forwards:

Memphis Depay
Anthony Martial
Wayne Rooney
William Keane

Regan Poole, who recently received international clearance to play for Man United, and William Keane are brought into the squad while Nick Powell misses out after joining Hull City on loan.

United face Danish outfit FC Midtjylland in the first leg of their round of 32 tie on the 18th February.

Qualifying for the Europa League was a disappointment after United’s Champions League exit last year but the club should be aiming to win every competition they are in and supporters will expect a good performance against Midtjylland.
