Manchester United’s potential XI vs Chelsea: Bastian Schweinsteiger starts

by Ben Topliss

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal will be hopeful that Bastian Schweinsteiger is fit enough to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Schweinsteiger has not played for Man United since the FA Cup win over Sheffield United in January due to injury.

Marouane Fellaini has been playing in central midfield but his impact on games has been minimal, although the Belgian was much improved against Stoke last time out. Schweinsteiger’s presence would give United a boost against Chelsea:

Schweinsteiger was brought in last summer to play in games exactly like the one at Stamford Bridge.

His experience has proved invaluable at various points over the course of the campaign and his partnership with Morgan Schneiderlin may give United an edge up against the likes of Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas.

Elsewhere, Jesse Lingard will be hopeful of continuing his role in the starting XI after scoring against Stoke, although Ander Herrera will provide good competition for his place in the side.
