Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini reveals Ryan Giggs help in training

Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini has revealed that Ryan Giggs has been helping him in training as he bids to match the seven goals he scored last season.

Fellaini has scored twice in 24 appearances this term but he has been sidelined at points due to injury.

He has also had to adapt to an unfamiliar role in central midfield, with some fans getting frustrated over his minimal impact on games in the position. Fellaini insisted he has been unlucky over the course of the campaign and revealed that Giggs helps out in training.

“Yes, sometimes we do that in training and sometimes with Giggsy as well as the other players. They cross the ball for me to finish off,” Fellaini said.

“I hope to score seven goals or more again. It’s always good to score but, this season, I have missed a lot, I think.

“I have created a lot of chances but I have always hit the post or there were great saves from the goalkeepers. Sometimes it is the luck and I hope it turns.

“I know it is coming though because, okay, the luck can resolve itself. In the last few games, I’ve had the chance to score but the keeper is there or he makes a great save. That’s football as well but I hope the luck turns. I know it is coming.”

If United are to move forward, it is hard to imagine Fellaini having a place in the side.

The Belgian provides a physical presence in the middle of the park and is useful in certain situations but the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin and Michael Carrick possess much more quality in terms of passing and movement. AC Milan were linked to Fellaini in the January transfer window and time may be running out for him.
