Mark Lawrenson: Louis van Gaal will ‘park the bus’ against Chelsea

by Tanveer Arayan

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson believes Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal will “park the bus” against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

Man United head to Chelsea on Sunday on the back of a pair of impressive victories against Derby County and Stoke City.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have been dragged towards the bottom of the Premier League table following some atrocious form this season. Lawrenson predicted that the game will end in a 1-1 draw.

“Whatever the Dutch is for bus, I think Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will park it at Stamford Bridge on Sunday because this is a game he will not want to lose,” Lawrenson said.

“Chelsea seem to find it hard to break down teams who make it difficult for them, and United will definitely look to do that. Eden Hazard will start, which will make a difference, and the Blues will continue to climb up the table, but this game has got a draw written all over it.”

It will be interesting to see how Louis van Gaal sets up his side for the clash.

On the one hand, United have benefitted from being released from their shackles in recent weeks, with the display against Stoke one of the best of the campaign. On the other, United cannot afford to risk poor results as they look to break back into the top four. Whatever happens, Chelsea will provide a tough test in London.
