Lingard scored Man United’s opener at Stamford Bridge, firing home after picking up Cameron Borthwick-Jackson’s cross despite having his back to goal.
The forward has been in good goalscoring form as of late and United fans were pleased with what they saw.

Borthwick Jackson, Martial, Lingard, Perreira, Depay and Wilson. All young players who if United can hold on to will become stars! #MUFC

It looked like Lingard’s goal would seal a big three points for United but Diego Costa struck late on to earn a point for Chelsea.
The result left United fifth in the Premier League, six points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City.
Louis van Gaal’s side should have had enough quality to see out the game but, not for the first time this season, they dropped points from a winnable position. The veteran Dutchman will have to pick up his players ahead of the game against Sunderland next week.
