Louis van Gaal: I couldn’t hear the Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge

Louis van Gaal has praised the Manchester United fans that made the trip to London to watch the 1-1 draw against Chelsea on Sunday.

The Man United fans were in full voice as Jesse Lingard fired in a superb opening goal following good work from Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.

However, Diego Costa then struck late on to rescue a point for Guus Hiddink’s side. Van Gaal insisted that he couldn’t hear the Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge.

“It’s sad for the fans also. This match you heard only the Manchester United fans and not the Chelsea fans,” he said.

The United supporters should have watched their team see out the three points but, in the end, they had to settle for a point.

It leaves United fifth in the Premier League, six points behind fourth-placed Manchester City. United are in real danger of missing out in the race to finish in the top four of the Premier League and it is crucial that they string a run of wins together starting with the clash against Sunderland next week.
