Louis van Gaal: De Gea did fantastically against Chelsea

Louis van Gaal has hailed Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea after a spectacular performance against Chelsea on Sunday night.

De Gea’s brilliant form almost earned Man United the full three points until Diego Costa found a late equaliser for Jesse Lingard‘s goal.

Noticeably different from his usual approach, van Gaal praised De Gea’s remarkable saves against the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Branislav Ivanovic at Stamford Bridge.

“I have to say he did a couple of saves! I have also said sometimes he is also there to stop shots or headers. But now he was remarkable because they were nearly goals I think. But he did fantastically,” van Gaal said.

De Gea was nothing short of phenomenal against Chelsea. I’m not sure quite sure how he kept out Ivanovic’s point blank volley with a reflex save but he did and we’re lucky to have him between the sticks.

While Manuel Neuer might be considered the world’s best goalkeeper still over at Bayern Munich, De Gea is the best in the Premier League and it won’t be long until he is the world’s best and is rewarded for that.

Something which is definitely driving De Gea forward is the desire to become Spain’s No.1 for Euro 2016 and in this sort of form, it is surely a given that he’ll be first choice for Vicente del Bosque in France.
