Here is a round-up of today’s Manchester United news and transfer gossip.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea would have earned £9.1million-a-year if his proposed contract with Real Madrid had been processed in time. According to Football Leaks De Gea was in line to receive a signing fee of £8.4million and racked up €86.1m (£66.7m) over the course of six years.

Victor Valdes has spoken out about his time at Man United this season and said he felt so isolated at Old Trafford that he was worried no one would notice if he was knocked unconscious. Louis van Gaal instructed him to train alone and denied his contact with all first-team players. He told told academy goalkeeping coach Alan Fettis he felt very alone at Man United.

Elsewhere, Former Man United captain Bryan Robson firmly believes Ryan Giggs can be the club’s answer to Pep Guardiola. He has urged Ed Woodward to overlook Jose Mourinho and give the role to the Welshman when Van Gaal leaves at the end of the season.

Lastly, Man United have allegedly shown an interest in appointing Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino to replace Van Gaal. Reports suggest that United chiefs have held discussions with representatives of Pochettino after Mourinho doubts continue to strengthen at Old Trafford.
