Frank Lampard claims Jose Mourinho could certainly handle Manchester United if he replaces Louis van Gaal at the end of the season.
The former Chelsea boss has been heavily associated with a move to Old Trafford and has already told close friends it’s a ‘done deal.’
Reports indicate Mourinho is set to land a three-year-contract worth over £45million to take over from the Dutchman.
Lampard, who worked under the Portuguese manager at Stamford Bridge for years and became Chelsea’s highest goalscorer, insists he is more than capable to do the job.
He said: “I think it’s a possibility. If Louis van Gaal goes on, which I think he’s said he’s going to leave at the end of the season at the latest, I think Mourinho’s the type of manager that will certainly come into their thinking. He could certainly handle a club like that, that’s what he’s about.”
Mourinho looks like the favourite to replace van Gaal in the hot seat at United and reports are snowballing with each passing day, to the point where the latest suggestion is that he has agreed a deal on personal terms in principal.
I’ve been open about my thoughts on Mourinho and feel there is no man better placed to take us forward than him after van Gaal and by the sounds of it, Lampard seems to think the same.
