Manchester United injury update ahead of Sunderland

Here is a complete round-up of Manchester United’s latest injury news ahead of Sunderland on Saturday.

Phil Jones – Injured in the U21s match against Norwich City. Came off after 60 minutes following a clash of heads but Warren Joyce said his withdrawal was planned. Not considered severe.

Guillermo Varela – Injured in the U21s match against Norwich City. Substituted after a heavy tackle on his ankle.

Adnan Januzaj – Pulled up after a clash of knees in the U21s match against Norwich City. Came off but went back on to try and continue, then suffered a hamstring problem and was taken off straight down the tunnel.

Bastian Schweinsteiger – Been out since the Sheffield United game and there is no estimated return date. Louis van Gaal said he has given him a ‘little holiday’ as the injury has taken longer to recover.

Antonio Valencia – Now close to returning after recovering ankle surgery.

Marcos Rojo – Nearly back in the squad following surgery on a dislocated shoulder.

Luke Shaw – Continuing to work hard behind the scenes on his own rehabilitation program. No suggestions of any complications so far.
