Paul Parker insists Jose Mourinho is the wrong man to take over at Manchester United

Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker insists Jose Mourinho is the wrong man to replace Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.

Reports indicate Mourinho has agreed a deal in principle with Man United chiefs to replace the Dutchman at the end of the season.

Fans are excited to see the Portuguese manager in charge and have heavily criticised Van Gaal as a result of his ‘dull play style.’

Parker believes Mourinho is as good as a chocolate teapot. Parker told The Sun: “Will Jose be good for United? I’d use the word ‘no’. He’s as good as a chocolate teapot.

“I’m not questioning him as a coach, as he has that as a strength. His strength is how he sets a team up and that doesn’t change through his career.

“By my thing is looking at his personality and him as a person.

“He doesn’t fit Manchester United as a club and how it considers itself outside of football.

Outside of football, United are excellent in the corporate market but we can hardly string two passes together at the moment, so are in real need of some big change to help the club recover.

As for the youth team, that’s definitely the biggest concern about Mourinho but you have to imagine Mourinho would be asked to change and adapt for United, something I think he’d do with pleasure.

Parker might not think Mourinho is suitable but I do, and the sooner he is brought in the better.
