Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz insists Jose Mourinho won’t have any problems replacing Louis van Gaal as Manchester United manager.
The Former Chelsea boss took the title to Stamford Bridge last summer but was sacked by the club after a disappointing start to the season.
Mourinho has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford and already told close friends it’s a ‘done deal‘ if reports are to be believed, and Luiz is sure United have been keeping an eye Mourinho.
Speaking about his former boss, he said: “You can’t dispute the success he has had – that is why I am sure Manchester United are looking at him.
“I don’t think Jose would have any problem taking the Manchester United job. Yes, he will always care for Chelsea, but Jose does what is best for Jose.”
Mourinho definitely wouldn’t have any problems adapting to life as United manager in terms of being able to handle the job but the real questions around Jose are to do with whether the club and his ethos would match up.
Jose has never had an interest in youth and that’s core to United’s traditions, so there would have to be an adaptation in that sense. As for his style of play, those concerns hardly exist among fans now because of what has happened since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. Where we once had a moral high ground against Mourinho’s style, we’ve lost that thanks to David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.
I can’t think of an alternative to Mourinho who would be available to replace van Gaal and as much as I do fear about what he will do in terms of promoting the youth, he’s the man best equipped to help return United’s identity as a winning club.
