Steve Bruce is waiting to use Nick Powell at the right time on his loan spell at Hull City.
Powell, 21, joined Hull on loan this January and Manchester United fans are keen to see how he gets on at the Championship table topping club.
He is yet to make debut but Bruce clearly has every intention of using him when the time is right.
Speaking about Powell, Hull boss Bruce said: “We have to manage him because it would be wrong of me to just throw him in if he’s not ready.
“Mike Phelan knows him well and, of course, I spoke with Ryan Giggs at length about him. It’s fair to say that Ryan really likes him as a player.”
It’s interesting to hear Giggs has a soft spot for Powell. That no doubt stems from his strong start at United when he was still playing for United alongside him under Sir Alex.
I share Giggs’ soft spot and really want to see Powell get a good stint of football under his belt without injury because he’s got bags of potential and just needs the right chance to bring the best out in him.
With former reds Bruce and Phelan, Powell is in good hands and Hull are flying high at the top of the table. All he needs to do is work hard in training so he builds up his fitness again and it then shouldn’t be too long before we see him make his debut.
